Global Risk Report 2

This blog is about the global report base on the facets that may happen which the authority list in different risk:
1.     Fragile Societies under Pressure.
Base on the report, the fragile of societies is increasing now and one of the major drivers to the fragility of societies is rising socio-economic inequality within countries. Therefore, the question that I come up here is which countries highly in “rising socio-economic inequality” condition?
Well, I hardly found the answer for this question, but there’s an article from the internet. It reports on inequalities in mortality between two broad socioeconomic  between men and women in 6 countries, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, England/Wales, and Italy (Turin). After that the report shows that the inequalities in total mortality have increased in all six countries. Therefore, I might conclude that socio-economic inequality is happen all around the world.

2.     Preparedness at the Regional Level Is Different
In the report, they mention about the geopolitical risk, saying that it can also impacts on other risks. So the question is how geopolitical risk cans impacts on other risks. From an article I read on the internet, they say that geopolitical risk is in the top 10 global risk and when people focus on that risk, it make a shift from the focus on economic risk that prevailed between 2007 and 2014.

3.     Economic Risks: Out of the Spotlight?
In this report, there are paragraph that mention low interest rates have also fuelled the risk of asset bubbles. So my question is what are asset bubbles? The asset bubbles are created when the prices of asset like house, stocks, gold become over-inflated and rise quickly over time. It's a bubble when investors bid up the price beyond any real sustainable value.

4.     Environment – High Concern, Little Progress
The report mention the nexus of food, water energy and climate so I kind of wondering the relation of these substances. So the question I come up for this article is how food, water, energy and climate relate? Later, in the article, they list some issues that are relate to the climate like overfishing, deforestation and the inadequate management of sensitive ecosystems such as coral reefs are increasing the stress on food and water systems.
5.     Technological: Back to the Future
With high technology come more troubles. The article had mentioned about the “Internet Thing” also entail new risks. One of the risks they mentioned was security risk. They’re saying that the current Internet infrastructure was not developed with such security concerns in mind. And my question is what are the other risks that the “Internet Thing” might cause? To answer this question, I have taken a look using the “Internet Thing” to find out what risks it might bring. The Internet can also be considered a dangerous place since it can be access everywhere. Therefore, beside the security risk, which can affect to your business’ document, knowing unclearly who you are doing business with on the internet also bring risks like cyber criminals, bullies, and corrupt businesses.

6.     Preparedness at Regional Level is Different

This article states that each region has to prepare to handle their problem. For example, North America identifies failure/shortfall of critical infrastructure, large-scale cyber attacks and failure of climate-change adaptation as the three risks for which it is least prepared. Sub-Saharan Africa is considered least prepared for infectious diseases and unemployment… Moreover, there is a figure on the article point out that the East sides of Asia, where I live, have to prepare for interstate conflict. So my question is what some interstate conflicts that we have to prepare are? In my opinion, the conflict that might lead to war between countries is the important interstate conflict that we have to prepare. Take the conflict between Vietnam and China about the 981 rig for an example. That conflict might easily lead to war if one side didn’t abdicate. However, a question how to prepare for such an important interstate conflict is a hard question to answer.

Motivation

Hi, my name is Duy and today I'm going to tell you a little bit about myself. I'm a 11th grade student study in an international school, By the time I'm writing this blog it's almost one o'clock in the morning. The other friends of mine must be in bed at this time. So why I have to do this? What is my motivation for doing this.

The answer for that is my grade. Yes, it's nearly the end of the final semester I my grade will determine whether I'll pass this class or not. Unlucky, I'm at the edge of failing and there will be tones of problems happen with my family if I fail this class. So that is the motivation for me to keep doing this blog.

Motivation can understand through the dictionary is an external aspect cause people to be continually to do a job, a role or a subject, to make an effort to attain a goal. Everything we do in this world needs a motivation. There are a lot of theories about motivation and one of them is the Maslow's Hierarchy Theory. Maslow has created the need of hierarchy, and they were listed in 5 levels, from low-to-high order. Every single human has to satified with lower needs before moving to higher-needs. Base on Maslow, people are all trying to reach the highest level. Therefore, they have to satisfy the lower-level and that is their motivation.

Like I mentioned, everything we do need a motivation. This theory of mine can also apply to fix some of the 21st century issues. What motivate us to fix an issue? Take nuclear energy for an example and you want poor people, hunger to pay attention on that problem. Well, they might not even care of it because they’re too hungry. Their lower level needs of the Maslow’s Hierarchy of them aren’t satisfied. Therefore, they won’t able to reach the top-level: problem solving. Because of this, to motivate a person to take a part in fixing the world’s issues, you have to make sure their lower-level needs are satisfied.

Nuclear Energy

What is nuclear energy?
The energy generated during the combustion of oil, coal, gas and energy generated when explosives detonated called the energy generated by the chemical reaction, energy is generated by the movement of electrons orbiting nuclear. Atomic energy is the energy produced during the nuclear fission or nuclear fusion.

How nuclear energy happen?
In the atomic nucleus, the nucleons (protons or neutrons regardless), at very little distance, will attract each other very strongly. Through this link energy that protons and neutrons together in the nucleus unstable. When nuclear fission or nuclear fusion, the binding energy of the nucleus will be released called atomic energy.

Nuclear energy factory is the factory that create power and record the energy from nuclear power. However there is possibilities that accidents will happen. On 26.04.1986, the accident at Unit 4 of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant from the capital Kiev Ukrainian republics of the former USSR is about 130 meters north.
The reactor has a capacity of 3200MW using graphite as retardant and water quality thermal load is light. This is a particular type of reactor developed by Russia.
The accident occurred while testing to stop power supply from outside, to see the rotation inertia of the turbine, the generator will gain much power.
From a wide range of errors, such as operating personnel actions violated the principle of operation, making the device automatically stops the oven does not work, the priority for the completion of the test, to deviate from the plan, reactor running at low power is unstable, then violated the principle of the control rods. Therefore, the reactor power increased rapidly, overheating fuel, steam generated intense, leading to damaged pipe pressure, part of the reactor and oven building.
According to the authorities, 31 people died in this accident (which, one person died from burns while extinguishing the fire and another was missing) and 203 people hospitalized due to acute radiation exposure. Because the reactor and the building was destroyed, and so the radioactive material inside the reactor leak out. As soon as the accident occurred, around 135,000 residents within a radius of 30 km from the plant to flee.

Fixing these problems might lower the chance of  facing the accidents:
- The defects of the management system of the factory
- The functional defects of sealed radioactive materials
- Violates the principle of operation, operating personnel lack knowledge

Pollution

Pollution is when poisonous substances occur in many form. There are many type of pollution, but now I only focus on one type, the type that people rarely mention, sound pollution.
Sound pollution, and noise pollution,  is phenomenal intensity and different frequencies, arranged without order, causing discomfort to the listener, affecting the work and relaxing the people. It is also possible that the sound emitted at the wrong time, sound output intensity exceeds human tolerance levels. If noise exceeds the permitted level will impact directly on the health and life of humans.
According to scientists, the intensity noise 50dB degrade performance, especially the mental work. Noise to 70dB increase breathing rate and heartbeat, increased body temperature and blood pressure, affects the digestive activity and reduce operational interest. 90dB noise causes fatigue, insomnia, auditory functional damage, loss of balance the body and nervous breakdown.

And what affects and sound pollution give you?

Several studies recently rated noise pollution topped the list of air pollutants harmful to human health. Sound pollution is harmful to both adults and children. Children are exposed to continuous noise will have difficulties with learning. Especially the ability to complete assignments and learn the language very much affected.

Sound pollution also affect human sleep. If a person lacks sleep, the whole body will be affected negatively. That is inevitable. Regular exposure to noise will make people with tinnitus (always hear the buzzer sound inside the ear). This situation adversely impacts the nervous system and your health.

These studies show that noise pollution is also a cause of high blood pressure and cause heart problems. This type of pollution is becoming increasingly dangerous for humans in the present and the future. Noise pollution also affects human memory and other cognitive abilities. It particularly affects the ability to remember the lesson of the children.

One of the solution for this is to surround produces some by shell sound-proofing noise sources. For example do shell soundproof generator, fan or compressor ... noise. Sound equipment housings often have multiple layers. Outside the 2ly thick ribbed steel stiffener; inner layer of porous material with small pores interconnected used 50 mm thick glass wool, followed by lining and corrugated layers hole to protect porous material layer.

Challenges in 21st Century

People in this world today are meant to be better than the people from the past, thanks to the development of the technology. With better technologies come better medicines, better transportation, and better ways of communication. All of these developments are meant to help people’s life more convenient and healthier. The question is do we really feel more convenient and healthier?

Unfortunately, the more convenience we have the more tiredness it brings. Obviously, everybody wants a convenient life and they have to work really hard for it.  In the process of working for it, they have to struggle with many troubles and as they struggle with it, worry comes. Every day, there are tones of things that we need to worry about. Our safety, family, career, relationship, etc. Money is one of the biggest worry, everything now is required money to get. Therefore, we always have to think about money. The other big element that leads to worry is honor. We put our honor too high that we have to care about our appearance, action and speech because other people might judge you by them. Back in the Stone Age, all we needed to worry is food and shelter.

So, how can we still aim for the good life without worrying about all the stuff that I mentioned? Well, start by enjoying every moment you have and try to not let other distraction bother you at that time. There are certain methods to clean your mind from distraction like doing yoga or meditation.

G7 Group

G20 (group of major economies) consists of 20 major economies in the world including nineteen countries and the European Union. Until 2009, members of the G20 include: Saudi Arabia, India, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Germany, South Korea, United States, Indonesia, Mexico, South Africa, Russia, Japan, France, Turkey, China, Australia, UK, Italy, and the European Union Europe.

G7 group of industrialized countries leading the world, including USA, Germany, Italy, UK, France, Japan and Canada and the G8 is the G7 countries including Russia

G7 group concern about the risk of China on East Sea

Leaders of the group of seven industrialized nations (G7) development expressed concern about tensions in the sea, while China's Communist Party newspaper lampooning of Japanese policy in the G7.

November last year, China announced the establishment of non-recognition on the East China Sea, the move encountered opposition from the United States and its allies in the region.

In a recent interview with the BBC, Professor Carl Thayer, from the Australian Defence Force Academy, said that China may use 981 Hai Duong rig to go to establish an air defense identification zone in the East Sea.

Biodiversity

Biodiversity is the richness of genetic resources, breeding, species and ecosystems in nature.
Biodiversity is considered under 3 level:
Biodiversity at the species level includes all living organisms on Earth, from bacteria to plants, animals and fungi.
At the population level of biodiversity including the genetic differences between species, genetic differences between populations living in different geographical isolation, as well as differences between individuals living together in a community.
Biodiversity also includes the difference between the communities in which living species and ecosystems, where the species as well as the biomes exist and all the differences of the relationship cooperation between them.
Vietnam is rated as one of 15 countries with biological diversity (biodiversity) high in the world. But due to the many natural elements, pollution, invasive species invade, especially the impact of humans through various means such as deforestation, overfishing is considered to be the original ... main contributor to the decline increasing biodiversity.
Statistics show that the country has more than 21 thousand species of plants; nearly 16 thousand species of animals; 3,000 species of microorganisms and fungi mainly concentrated in some areas of high biodiversity, such as Hoang Lien Son Mountains, north of the Tay Nguyen, Southeast ... However, Vietnam and more countries in the world, is facing a serious deterioration of ecosystems rich in biodiversity. The total number of animals and plants in their natural wild endangered our country is now 882 species (listed in the Red Book, 2007), an increase of 161 species compared with the previously published Red Book (year 1992-1996). Worrying, there are nine animals (rhino horns, cow gray, tapir, otter civet, carp original Japanese eels, fish brackish lower body, spotted deer, crocodiles lilac) and two species lan comedy is considered extinct in the wild ...
The statistics of the Department of Conservation biodiversity (VEA) shows: There are 94 species of plants and 48 species of aquatic invasive. In particular, there are exotic aquatic species in Vietnam in large numbers, such as yellow snails, mimosa trees ... so do not be controlled, closely examine the situation should have occurred outbreak in the wild. Consequently, the dominant invasive species, depleting species, genetic resources, disrupting the structure and function of ecosystems. Destroying crops, reducing crop yields, livestock and even affect human health ...

Clean Water

Water holds a special role in the life and survival of human development. Clean water is life, people, animals and plants will not survive without drinking nuoc.Nuoc safety and hygiene are the decisive factor for poverty reduction and sustainable development.

Water is so important, but now, the world must still face the risk of water shortage and water pollution are serious. Pollution of water resources, lack of clean water increases the risk of intestinal diseases, skin diseases and some diseases khac.Trung average about 1.5 million children die from diarrhea each year . According to WHO estimates that up to now has about 130 million people are faced with the use of contaminated water with arsenic concentrations above the allowed concentration of 10 mg / liter. Therefore, the role of water for life important and necessary than ever.

The issue of water and human life - Water & Health
Source of water for domestic increasingly polluted and depleted
The demand for water for domestic, industrial and agricultural production is growing strongly along with the socio-economic development and population explosion. According to the results of the evaluation in 1999, 8.8% of the total annual flow frequency corresponding to 75% of the total amount of water needed by the country. This figure increased to 12.5% in 2000 and 16.5% in 2010. 41 km3 (accounting for 89.8%) in 1985, up 46.9 km3 (1990) and 60 km3 in 2000 ( 85%) is the total amount of water used to irrigate crops, this figure accounts for a high percentage. The amount of water used for agriculture in the dry season is very large. The total amount of water used in the dry season of 2000 reached 70.7 km3, accounting for 42.4% of the total water supply capacity in the dry season, or 51% of the dry season flow corresponding to the frequency of 75 %.

In many areas and river basins, water can be used several times the total amount of water can be provided, meaning that not only far exceeds the threshold amount of water required to maintain ecological but also no water at place to provide for living and production.

As mentioned above, the increase in population and human activities will increasingly strong impact to the natural environment in general and in particular the aquatic environment.

The vast green forest in Truong Son, Highlands, northern mountains are cleared to leave the mountains, barren, gray, farming and forestry irrational and indiscriminate waste into the waters ... has and will cause very serious consequences, making depleted water resources, pollution and drought likely more intense. The risk of water shortage is exacerbated, especially in the dry season in areas of low rainfall.

Fresh water is a renewable resource, but the use of these resources must be balanced between stocks and renewable. That was how people should care about, made to survive and develop life-stable, durable.

We also save green forest and water resources of us? We have the ability if we knew each startled, stopped, started again. Now to end all mining activities rampant, destroying the remaining forests. Reforestation, restoration of green for the forests. In order to hundred years later, our children can palm a handful to sip cool water pure, tasty drink stock back on every river, creek. For the life was saved, proliferation, development and longevity.

Ocean Ecology

Ticking time bomb' in the sea
Acidification of the oceans is a "ticking time bomb" under the sea, a serious threat to the life of the marine species and communities living in the coastal areas, a new report Here's organization Natural England (UK) warned.

Shimmering ocean.

According to these figures the latest scientific research, the concentration of acid in the oceans has increased by one third compared to the previous time period occurs industrial revolution in the world. The cause of acidity is increased by the amount of CO2 released into the atmosphere too much.

Scientists fear that if emissions cause the greenhouse effect continues to increase with the current speed, the acidity of seawater will increase by 120% in 2060 - the highest in 21 million years of Earth history.

If this fear became a reality, a large number of species of plants and animals in the ocean will be seriously affected. The number of fish species will decline significantly due to high acidity reduce their fertility. This will directly impact on the economy of the communities living along the sea, especially in poor countries because their lives depend primarily on fishing.

Acidification of the oceans is one of the important issues is the world leader discussed at a summit on climate change organized by the United Nations is taking place in the Danish capital Copenhagen circuit.

Dr Helen Phillips, Executive Director of Natural England, said that to the marine ecosystem is not disrupted due to acidification, the most important thing is that we have to keep the amount of greenhouse gases in the lower level allows .

"The amount of CO2 released into the atmosphere directly affect the acidity of our oceans," said Dr. Helen. "The rise of ocean acidity is a serious threat to the marine environment - this is a huge challenge for the world and it requires urgent action to protect marine ecosystems. "

Smoking Cigarette

Are you a smoker or do you live around someone who smokes? If not, the environment that you live in is healthy. Unfortunately, if a family member you live with is smoking cigarette, or worse that if you attempt to smoke these poison grasses. Then your health is being thread.
Smoking can cause many diseases such as lung cancer, heart diseases and long-term respiratory diseases. According to the Medical News Today, over 440,000 deaths of the 2.4 million deaths are caused by using tobacco which is more than the death from using alcohol and other diseases such as HIV.  Furthermore, the death by smoking cigarette are concerned to be one of the preventable death because not only the smokers' health are harmed but the second smoke can effect the health of the people around them.

Lung cancer is one of many cancers caused by smoking and it's one of the most dangerous cancer that had the lowest survival rate. It also one of the most common cancer death in the UK. Smoking can caused other cancer such as cancers of the larynx (voice box), oesophagus (gullet), mouth and pharynx (throat), bladder, pancreas, kidney, liver, stomach, bowel, cervix, ovary, nose and sinus, some types of leukaemia and increases the risk of breast cancer.
And how does smoking cigarette caused cancer. The tobacco contains 70 different substances that are seems to be the cause of cancer. The poison chemical enters the lung and spreads out through the body when the smoker inhale these smoke. After entering the lung and spreading out, the chemical damages the DNA and changes important genes, making the cells grow into a huge number. Furthermore, the poison chemical also weaken the body's immune system, making the cancer cell grow quicker without being destroyed. because inhaling tobacco smoke is the only way that it will contact your body, second can also cause damage to the non-smoking person.
The good new is these cancer and other diseases caused by smoking can be prevent by avoiding the cigarette smoke and stop smoking at the right time if you're the smoker.

Visiting Orphanage Blog

Last Saturday I had a trip to visit and help the children from 2 different orphanages and it's an great experience for me. The trip gave me a new vision about my life after seeing those unlucky abandoned children.

We arrived at the first orphanage on district 1 at nearly 9 o clock at the morning and my job was to carry the food that my class bought for the children. Seeing us coming, the children and the adults at the orphanage were very happy. Some children even helped us to carry the food inside. After finishing giving present such as food and toys, we introduced ourselves, listen to the children's life story and we played games together. It's good to hear that the people from the orphanage still give a opportunity for the children to go to school. The children was very open-heart with us and we had a good time hanging together.

Later that day we went to a second orphanage on Go Vap district. This orphanage seem to touch my heart the most because it was older and poorer than the first one. Around the orphanage was pictures drawn by the children there hanging on the wall and the pictures was about the kids' dreams. It even amazed me to see a map of Vietnam created from bus fares folding into heart shape, putting together. But the thing that make me feel sore was to see these children living in a very poor condition. Each kid only have for him/her a small locker to store clothes. Moreover, the stairs in the orphanage were dangerous for the children to walk, the wooden bed that they use to sleep was old and easy to be cracked.

Even though the finance is little, the people from these orphanages are trying the best to raise, to support, to give a good childhood for these abandoned children.
